A Story for the Season of Endarkenment
Our story begins as a chilling wind in autumn’s ebb foretells the swift approach of winter. Its billows carry us to the golden glow of a small log cabin, tucked into the wild mountains of Appalachia. Within..a father newly widowed bends low, placing his heavy hand upon the breast of his newborn daughter before declaring her name to the worlds…
The Good Child brings the mystery, hardship, and loving kindness of mountain life in the 19th century, with its isolated and yet communal life, and the customs and secrets of survival. Behind the human drama there are unseen allies and ancestral spirits that come to bless the Good Child on her journey.
